Dystopiatic Eco Rules/Regulations

  1. We've promised to respect you and we need you to respect others. That means that we will remove any phone number, address or other personally identifying information posted if it violates someone's privacy, is harassing or could lead to harassment or is otherwise inappropriate.

  2. Offensive material is also prohibited. Offensive is a pretty broad term, but we think you know what we mean. (You're going to have to trust our judgment, if you don't.) This includes any messages or material that are ethnically, racially, religiously or sexually offensive, insulting or demeaning. It also includes messages that are harassing or threatening to others. In other words, if you wouldn't like it said about you, don't say it about others. We don't want to be censors, but non-constructive negative comments may be inappropriate.

  3. No trolling or neo-trolling: Trolling means deliberately seeking to cause damage to the community. Neo-trolling is another variant of this whereby you try to cause damage without making it seem like actual trolling (ie: subtle and intelligent trolling). This can include:

    1. Maliciously exploiting 'loop holes' in the rules.

    2. Seeking to constantly or massively undermine staff.

    3. Massively or constantly publicly attacking the forum or how it is run on sites both associated and unassociated with the forum.

    4. Privately plotting to cause problems on the forum.

    5. Maliciously breaking rules.

    6. Hacking, or issuing hack threats: This carries an immediate and severe ban.

    7. Respect the Moderators: If a Moderator closes a thread, or tells you to quit doing something, then please listen to them. While what they ask for may not make sense to you, it will make sense to everyone else who want what's best for the forum. If you are unhappy with a Moderator, then do not make a public protest thread, but PM an Administrator with the complaint and we will deal with it if necessary. You should have enough respect for Moderators and the time which they put in to be able to trust their judgment and the job that they do.

  4. Spamming is strictly not allowed. For those who do not know what spam is, spam is the posting of things not relevant to the topic, or anything that takes absolutely no time or thought such as an emoticon or a series of dots. Things that do not progress the topic and/or more off topic is spam. Posting such things will lead to the removal of said post and a warning level established, waisting both your time and the staff's.

  5. We reserve the right to monitor the boards and delete any postings that don't adhere to these rules, our standard site terms and conditions and our privacy policy. This includes postings that disrupt or interfere with our technical operations.

  6. Finally, because we can't think of everything offensive or inappropriate that may be said, we reserve the right to immediately delete any posting or ban any user at our sole discretion. (Sorry, but it might be necessary).

Role-play Rules/Regulations

  1. Buildings are not renewable resources, think of the location before you destroy.

  2. No severely damaging/killing a Canon Character, remember we're in their world.

  3. No God Modding! This is controlling what happens to characters and things other then your own. For example:

Karras rushes forward, thrusting his sword through Raven's chest.

This is not allowed, because I made it so that no matter what Raven does he still has no choice but to take the hit to the chest. What should have been said is something more like:

Karras rushes forward, thrusting his sword forward to Raven's chest.

This gives Raven a choice as to how to react to Karras's actions.

  4. Pay attention to the current time frame of the Private Role-plays and Main Role-plays. It becomes very irritating when someone says/does something that does not fit the era.

  5. No posting in Private Role-plays that you have not been invited to post in.

  6. No offensive Role-play posts.

  7. No invincibility, it's no fun to Role-play with someone who can dodge attacks that move at "Speeds they could not possibly dodge." Take a hit from time to time for the sake of the Role-play, it makes the story much more interesting.

  8. Try and use longer posts, good grammar, and use a spell checker.

  9. Give some detail to the posts. No Role-play is interesting if it has "Maxel watches TV" every other post. At least describe the show or the character's thoughts as they watch the show. The Role-play boards are set with a 120 character minimum, this is approximately the equivalent of one and a half lines of text. You can not post if you are under that minimum, and I ask that you try to go over the minimum to give more detailed RPs.

  10. Keep the characters and their powers Jak related. We like and encourage creativeness, but this is a Jak based Role-play after all. So keep things close to Jak, small deviation is ok.

  11. No Powerplay. This is giving your character far too much power and abilities.

  12. No out of character posts in Role-play threads: Rolr-play threads are meant for just that, Role-playing. If you want to have an out of character discussion then take it to either the chat room or Private Messages, that's what they are there for. OOC/IN posts do nothing but throw off the flow of the story.

  13. No playing a Cannon Character. You may only Role-play as an original character that you have created. However, there will be slight exceptions, You may, with Administrative permission, Role-play a short conversation of sorts between your character and a Cannon Character. If the Administrator sees you are unable to properly portray the characteristics of said Cannon Character, then a member of the staff will be assigned to play the part of that character temporarily. Keep in mind that permission to do this will rarely be granted, so do not pester the staff about it if we say no the first time.

  14. No omnipotent Role-playing. This simply means that any knowledge held or learned by an Role-player can not be utilized by that person's character unless their character has learned it for themselves. For example:

I tell you that my character dies if he's touched on the 5th vertebra. You as a person are now aware of this fact. Your character, however, has absolutely no way of knowing this. Thusly, the character can not use this information against my character.

Chat Room Rules/Regulations

  1. In addition to all rules stated above no one may impersonate another member at any time, any impersonations will result in punishment. Furthermore if you are caught impersonating any member of the staff the result will be an immediate ban. This is you're one and only warning to this rule, the staff has absolutely no tolerance for impersonations. If you see someone impersonating another member take a screen shot of the chat and PM an Administrator with the screen shot and an explanation of what happened.
